At My House....

We've been in the garden!

We've planted lettuces and spinach, a second grape vine, and our strawberries (in the guttering.)  The guttering is a new thing for us this year (as are the strawberries, actually.)  Not too sure on the spacing, but I suppose we'll figure it out.  I love that this uses otherwise unusable real estate along a very sunny wall - - we could have tier after tier of these!  We're waiting a few more weeks to plant tomatoes and such.  This is only our second year in this house, but we've been busy improving corner by corner....I think this summer's garden is going to be awesome.

If you have the time, stop by the fabulous Buttons By Lou Lou blog and see what everyone else is up to at their homes this week.

:) I miss our garden that we had last year - that is the down side of moving every two years - I always miss what I have left behind and then it takes me a year to settle and start again.

What a great idea. I might try this too.

Kylie, I know the feeling -- this is our 4th home in five years. But the first one that's truly *ours* so it feels different. We're ready to put down some roots! It feels so good to invest in a garden we know we'll be around to reap the rewards.

Melody, you should give it a go! We bought our guttering from the recycling center for $2.00. Ideally it would have been great if it had been bigger, but this is a start. We can always add on! I would love to have a few of these. Seems like it could work with other things too....

Ah, My boy is just getting started with his (tiny) spring garden too!

I saw the guttering idea someplace a few months ago & showed it to him & since space here is limited he liked the idea but wondered about the constant watering perhaps damaging the weather-board house - is that a concern for you at all...?!

But now you've got me wondering about whether he's planted strawberries too, or just boring stuff lol, will have to enquire!!

Looks fantastic. Well done! I am loving my little herb garden at the moment. It is all growing so well. I am planning on adding some basil and some mint very soon. I am staying simple this year because when things get a bit hotter I am not always brilliant with watering!! Enjoy the produce!!
Thanks for joining in this week. Lou.

Vic, you know we didn't think about the damage the water could potentially do. Oops! On the other hand, this isn't attached to our house -- it's on the (very old) garage/shed behind the house, so I suppose it matters a little less. All the same, I hope it doesn't hurt the wood. I'll let you know how we go....

Lou, I can't wait to get my herbs, particularly basil, in. Nothing like cooking with fresh herbs (not to mention veggies) It makes such a difference!
